Interview with Die Aufseherin
At the beginning there is a questionnaire which all applicants must complete truthfully. The information is carefully evaluated by three experienced team members. Based on our many years of experience, we assess the individual suitability of each applicant. At the end of the process, we either say yes, make suggestions for changes or reject the applicant.
Is it often the case that applicants don’t get what they want?
Die Aufseherin
Yes, that happens frequently. The chance of getting the desired prison place is 50 percent. If we suggest changes to the applicant, this usually relates to the desired length of detention or the chosen facility.
How is that to be understood?
Die Aufseherin
The project offers different options at three locations to meet the individual needs and potential of the prisoners. My team and I make every effort and use all our experience to ensure that everyone finds the right place. It is extremely frustrating for everyone when prisoners don’t turn up after all or apply for early release during their sentence. That is why we made the application process more detailed for the prisoner.
There are three different locations. Can you characterize them, what are their special features?
Die Aufseherin
Our headquarters is the Kaltenstein II prison in central Germany. Here, the prisoners are looked after by me and my crew. Kidnappings and prisoner transports are also possible here as in Lockwitz near Dresden. For short-term solitary confinement, also in combination with abduction, we have the Sanctum branch in Hanover. This is more or less for Beginners who like it more comfortable.
What advice do you have for applicants?
Die Aufseherin
Be honest with yourself and with us. Be clear about what you really want and what you can do. It is essential that you read the FAQ that we make available to interested parties after they have registered on the portal. Then be honest with us and fill in the questionnaire truthfully; answer all our follow-up questions truthfully. In your own interest.
How do you communicate with the delinquents during the application and organization phase?
Die Aufseherin
All correspondence – and I must emphasize this again and again – is handled exclusively by Ms. Trostreich in the secretariat. It happens again and again that elements contact the members of our team directly, sometimes several times. This ties up an infinite amount of manpower and time, which we would rather spend on preparing the campaigns. We will therefore no longer accept undisciplined communication behavior in the future. Those who do not adhere to the prescribed rules of communication will eliminate themselves from the race for the few prison places.
How do you and the members of your team prepare for the project?
Die Aufseherin
Many people don’t realize how much work it takes to organize an event. Some people think that it all falls out of the sky. Some of the dates in the prisons have to be booked a year in advance. This makes them binding for us; all our team members can’t make any other plans. Organizing and transporting equipment and devices takes a lot of time. In some cases, we travel many hundreds of kilometers to the site. And finally, we work together to develop a prison program for each inmate that corresponds to their individual interests and potential. All of this takes a lot of time.

For offenders who wish to serve their sentence in solitary confinement without contact to other prisoners, the Schwarze Anlage Lockwitz branch near Dresden is the right address. For short-term solitary confinement, also in combination with abduction, we have the Sanctum branch in Hanover.
